Dark Chocolate & Pear Cake

This Dark Chocolate & Pear Cake is a perfect combination of bitter dark chocolate and sweet pear. It’s one of my favorite whole-wheat cakes!

Dark Chocolate & Pear Cake

Almond flour combines well with the whole-wheat flour and gives this cake a bit more moisture. It’s so fluffy and moist; you would never guess this cake is made mostly out of whole-wheat flour!

substitutions

honey – can be substituted with maple syrup or sugar. You can also use zero-calorie sweetener; however, be aware that it might change the taste slightly. I personally prefer to use maple syrup or honey.
almond milk – you can use any type of milk.
whole-wheat flour – I strongly encourage you to give this whole-wheat flour a try; it will really surprise you – in a good way. However, if you don’t have it, you can use all-purpose flour.

Dark Chocolate & Pear Cake

ingredients

 1 cup whole wheat flour
 ½ cup almond flour
  cup cacao powder
 ½ tsp baking soda
 1 tsp baking powder
 cinnamon, salt
  cup olive oil
  cup honey
 4 pears
 ½ cup almond milk
 ½ cup chocolate chips

directions

Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease a cake pan. Peel pears and dice into small pieces.

In a large bowl, whisk together almond flour, whole wheat flour, cacao powder, baking powder, baking soda, a pinch of salt, and cinnamon.

In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, olive oil, almond milk. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Fold in the diced pears.

Pour batter into the cake pan and top with chocolate chips. Bake for 45 minutes. Let it cool completely before serving.
