Cabo San Lucas – Mexico

Our first trip this year was to sunny and warm Mexico! Even though we came from California you could feel the temperature difference.

I have to say driving in Mexico can be.. interesting. Stop sign doesn’t always mean that a driver will actually stop, seeing someone driving on red light it’s more common than in where I live. But don’t get scared, it’s not too bad and after a day or two you will get used to it. You just need to be more careful.

After we checked in we drove to Costco (it was really close to us) to get some food. We had a full kitchen and BBQ so we could get groceries and prepare our own food.

Papayas in Mexico are huge! I’ve never seen such big papaya in California! They also taste much better, sweeter and juicier.

My husband had to work a bit during our trip so sometimes I had to entertain myself. Luckily it wasn’t a problem. TYhe place where we stayed had many events
What’s better than a beer and Bingo 😉
I also painted wooden bowls and brought them home as a souvenir.

Snorkeling in Cabo was great! I’ve seen bigger and more colorful fish than in Hawaii. We snorkeled in two spots. One was right next to our resort. We had access to a semi-private beach and the snorkeling there was great. You didn’t have to swim too far in, the rocks were really close to the shore and you could see lots of fish out there.

The other spot was called Santa Maria and snorkeling was even better!

If you travel to Cabo between December and April you have a high chance to see a whale. There is so many of them! You can even see them from the shore.
We took a catamaran to go more into the ocean and see them closer. It was an amazing experience but I think I wouldn’t do it again.
At some point, I realized there were around 10 boats, smaller and bigger, around the whales. And I started wondering, how does it impact them? I honestly don’t know if it bothers them or not but I didn’t feel good about it.

We stayed in Welk Resort in Cabo San Lucas. We did like the place a lot! It is a small resort and even though it was a high season there were not many people there. But it did not bother me at all. I enjoyed the peace and quiet.

The first thing that we learned after we arrived was that the people there are extremely friendly! After two days we knew the names of the people that worked there and we made some friends with other guests.

If you are interested to see more of the resort we stayed in check out the video below!
